Kurds, who are we? A non-Arab Middle Eastern population that inhabits the region known as Kurdistan, a predominantly mountain area, 191,660 sq km, covering parts of Eastern Turkey, North Eastern Iraq, and North Western Iran and smaller sections of North Eastern Syria and Armenia. The region of land spans aside the Zagros and the eastern expansion of the Taurus land, it also extends in the south across the Mesopotamian plain and includes the upper reaches of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
In the 1990s, there were estimated to be more than 20 million Kurds. According to Wikipedia the Kurdish population is as follows:-
